My second Winter in Belgium brought a wider range of hues than the previous year had led me to believe. Grays and blues have away to harsh and warm — but still freezing — tones.
On the way home from the farmers’ market, I detoured through a crowd that — originally unbeknownst to me — were there to see Santa. The crowd was tightly packed by families with young children — all of whom looked to be having the times of their lives.
Another batch of Leuven shots. Mostly gray skies were giving way to Spring, but it hadn’t yet sprung.
On returning to Leuven, there was a carnival at Ladeuzeplein, only five minutes from our apartment. Despite being so close and lasting three weeks, thankfully we couldn’t hear it at night.
This is a longer collection of photos taken between multiple trips in Leuven, between February and May 2018. It was great to watch the days become longer—coming from Texas, the difference between Winter and Summer days is nothing like it is further North.
I flew from the U.S. on October 31—airports are surreal on Halloween—and arrived in Brussels the next day. This was my first time visiting Leuven, and it was great to start familiarizing myself with the city.
